He is a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA), the Metropolitan Washington Employment Lawyers Association (MWELA), Maryland Employment Lawyers Association (MELA), the American Association for Justice (AAJ), and the American Bar Association (ABA).

Cobbina's educational background includes the following law and business degrees and awards: Temple University (LL.M.), Temple University (MBA), University of Ghana Faculty of Law, Legon (LL.B.), and Ghana Law School (Professional Law Diploma).
